I love songs that are based on Scripture, especially the Psalms. Here are 5 of my favorites, although I have many more than 5 that I enjoy.
“Psalm 145” by Shane & Shane. I first heard this song in college and have been hooked ever since. Psalm 145 is one of my favorite Psalms, and I love the way this song builds.
“My Dwelling Place (Psalm 91)” by Keith & Kristyn Getty. This song is lovely, and I often need to be reminded that God is my ultimate place of safety.
“Psalm 46 (Lord of Hosts)” by Shane & Shane. What can I say? I love the Shanes.
“My Soul Finds Rest (Psalm 62)” by Sandra McCracken. Whenever I feel anxious or insecure, I listen to this song and then read Psalm 62. It never fails to help.
TIE: “Those Who Trust (Psalm 125)” and “Since I Am So Sick (Psalm 25)” by 100 Portraits and Waterdeep. I also first heard these songs in college on the Enter the Worship Circle album, and I played that album constantly. I still love it all these years later.
All of these songs and more are on a Spotify playlist I made (creatively titled “Favorite Psalm Songs”).
Now it’s your turn. What are YOUR favorite Psalm songs?
Look forward to listening to these. Poor Bishop Hooper recorded all the psalms into songs over 3 years. It’s a delight. Psalm 1, 23, and 39. Then Psalm 42 by City Alight and Psalm 86 by Colin Buchanan 💛
