This was fun. I just came across the word apricity, which is the warmth of the winter sun. It’s winter here AND I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. It needs to be in a poem but it doesn’t go with apricots… So watch this space 😆
Oh, Erin I love this post. I have several journals filled with single words--one is simply 'New Words' that I come across while reading; say "plangent" from the Luci Shaw poem "Bones."
I also have a journal called "Defining Moments" with a single word on each page in a web like drawing and all the various extensions or meanings of it. Try it--'temper,' 'conductor', 'pitch' and so on.
Your word 'mellifluous' is on one of my lists just because of the sound of it........it means 'honey like' (but your probably already knew that.)
When I was getting my teaching credential/Lib Studies degree my favorite class was Linguistics.
Fanion. The only word from your calendar I still remember, mostly because it sounds like Funyon.
😆😆😆

What a cool word! That’s a new one for me. You definitely need to write a poem!
My favorite word is serendipity. I love words that are fun to say, like bamboozle, persnickety, illustrious!
Those are all very fun!
Archipelago - first read in my favorite book from middle school and it’s never left me!
Ohhh, that is a good one! It is such a pretty word.

Etymology is the bomb. (or balm....)
One of my hardest undergrad classes was a linguistics class! But I learned so much!
