While some of you have no doubt already moved on to Christmas decorations and Christmas music (no judgment—well, at least not much judgment), I am committed to letting fall have its moment.
Fall is my favorite season, and even though it only lasts about 2.5 days in Tennessee, I can nevertheless make it feel autumnal1 for longer than that. Here are some of the ways I love to generate that cozy fall feeling:
Candles. I love candles year-round, but the glow of a candle is much more inviting when the daylight hours are shorter, and certain scents automatically make me think of autumn. What are your favorite candles? I confess to buying mostly cheap candles, so I have varying levels of success at being able to actually fill the room with the scent.
Fuzzy slippers. One thing I don’t like in colder months is not being able to wear sandals and other open-toed shoes, but I think fuzzy thong-style slippers like these2 are a good compromise. I got these from Old Navy on clearance over the summer, and they aren’t as cushy as I would like, but my feet can breathe and are still warm.
Lightweight sweaters. I love this sweater and also have it in red and pink (do not pay full price for it; they regularly go on sale for $15-20). This season I picked up two of these sweaters (in the purple and light blue, which is more of a seafoam green in person) that are also really soft, not bulky, and hit at a good spot on my waist. They also come in a variety of sizes and colors.
Autumn playlists. You know I have to make a seasonal playlist! Some music just sounds better in certain seasons, don’t you think?
Hot tea. I’m a fairly new (as in, the past two months) tea drinker, and I am really enjoying sipping on tea in the evenings. My current favorite is this one by Lipton. (Tea snobs, don’t come at me; I know nothing about good teas.) If you love tea, let me know about your favorites in the comments!
Honorable mentions: a snuggly blanket and cozy socks3.
Now it’s your turn: do you have any fall rituals or favorite things? Please share!
Have I already mentioned my love for the word “autumnal”? Even if I have, it bears repeating. It’s such a lovely word!
Amazon links are affiliate links, which means I get a small commission when you shop through my links. Sadly, Old Navy and Target don’t know I exist.
Did I overuse the word “cozy” in this post? Yes, but somehow the synonyms I could think of didn’t suffice.
Do you have a wax warmer? I have a couple really yummy fall waxes that are super potent I can share with you...they will definitely fill up your whole house haha.
Autumn is my fave. I've recently started drinking chamomile with a teaspoon of honey after trying to reduce my caffeine intake (three double shot coffees in a day is too much). Honestly, it is delightful and it helps me sleep better! I also drink Yorkshire black tea with a little bit of milk and a lot of honey. So good.
